Happy New Year! It’s officially 2026! (I personally welcomed it with several shots of brandy.)

I have so many writing plans this year so it’s time for an update..

Where The Shadows Lie (Shadows Book 1) officially releases January 9th. That’s only about a week away and I’m so beyond excited to share the story with you! I’d truly be forever grateful if you guys could leave reviews on Amazon & Goodreads after reading the book. It will be available in paperback, ebook, and Kindle Unlimited, so choose your preferred format and enjoy.

In the meantime, I’ve been prepping promotional quotes that will be shared daily starting January 9th. The quotes will be released twice a day for several weeks, at approximately 7pm EST and 9 am EST. They will appear on here, Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/katarinawuulfsun.bsky.social, Instagram: @wuulfsun, and the Facebook author page: Writer Katarina Wuulfsun.

Regarding my writing, I’m currently working on Shadows Book 2. I’m nearly finished with chapter 6, and even though I know the main event that will happen in this book, I haven’t done much plotting yet, which is slowing down my word count. My goal is for this book to have about 15 chapters.

Fun fact: Nearly all of the first six chapters occur before the events of book 1. The aim is to keep Rowan’s experiences at Blackwell Asylum brief before moving on to the plot of book 2. Writing Shadows Book 2 feels different from the first; it includes significantly more smut scenes. Still, these are balanced by darker moments, such as Rowan’s nightmares.

Life tends to be unperdictable, but the ultimate goal would be to have the first draft of Shadows Book 2 completed by April 2026 with the hopeful release by the end of this year.

I also have had a possible book idea teasing me for the last few weeks, but I haven’t made any offical progress on it yet. Though I will give a hint. The idea is for another MM romance but it would be between a wolf shifter and a dragon shifter.

I’ve always had a thing for werewolves and animal shifters, but I also plan to write books about other magical creatures.

I’m still debating if there will be a Shadows Book 3. I haven’t had any solid thoughts about the project other than knowing that if book 3 exists, it will definitely go back to focusing on the entire group of friends.

All in all, 2026 is going to be focused on writing and releasing Shadows Book 2 as well as plotting at least one other novel. It’s hard to predict how long a novel will take to write, but the goal is to finish a first draft in approximately four months. If I achieve that, I could be releasing as many as two books a year.

Here’s to hoping for the best new year ever to all of us.
